Studying at Wayne State

During his years as a student at the Wayne State University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Eugene discovered his passion for improving the health of others.

In 1963, shortly after graduating from pharmacy college, Eugene opened his first drugstore, called Civic Drugs. The small store was located on the east side of Dearborn, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit.

Growth of Arbor Drugs

Through hard work, determination and a visionary growth strategy, Eugene was able to rapidly expand his pharmacy business in the Metro Detroit area.

From Generation to Generation

The Applebaums have two daughters, Lisa and Pamela, and despite being extraordinarily focused on his work, Eugene was able to share his passion and engagement with his daughters.
